Tadlock: 'We are looking forward to finishing what we started.'

Texas Tech baseball coach Tim Tadlock shot down speculation Tuesday afternoon that had linked him to the vacancy at Texas.

Earlier Tuesday, Kirk Bohls of the Austin American-Statesman reported that the Longhorns were "focusing [their] baseball coaching search" on Tadlock.

UT has cast a wide net in their search to replace Augie Garrido, who stepped down on May 30 after 20 seasons in Austin. Throughout the last month, the Longhorns have reportedly contacted and been rejected by Florida's Kevin O'Sullivan, Viginia's Brian O'Connor, UCLA's John Savage, Oregon State's Pat Casey and TCU's Jim Schlossnagle. Texas has also reportedly interviewed Dallas Baptist's Dan Heefner, Tulane's David Pierce and Houston's Todd Whitting.

Texas Tech announced a contract extension for Tadlock in May that would keep the skipper in Lubbock through the 2022 season. It raised his base salary to $375,000 and included a non-compete clause aimed at other Big 12 institutions.

The 2016 Red Raider baseball team finished 47-20, won the Big 12 regular season championship and earned a trip to the College World Series. Tadlock is 148-95 in his four seasons in Lubbock.
