The Red Raiders landed another commitment this evening, making a total of five (5) new 2017 commitments this week alone. Richmond (Texas) George Ranch safety Adam Beck announced his commitment to Texas Tech on Saturday evening.

A one-time Houston commitment, Beck recently reopened his recruitment and decided that Texas Tech was where he wanted to be.

"I had always had a lot of interest in Texas Tech," Beck said. "They offered me back in my sophomore year and that meant a lot that they saw potential in me so early. I mostly talk with Coach (David) Gibbs, but Coach (Karl) Scott is my dude also.

"They see me playing a little bit of everything in the secondary, some corner and some safety. I already play both now and believe that I could play either at the next level."

Beck shared the good news with the Texas Tech coaching staff earlier this afternoon.

"I called Coach Gibbs and just let him know that I'm positive on my decision, and that I'm 100% committed to Texas Tech," Beck said. "He was super excited, then he connected me with Coach (Kliff) Kingsbury. I have a good relationship with him too, and he was just fired up. He told me that he's expecting me to be the best defensive back to come through Lubbock!"

Rated a 5.7 three-star, the 6-foot-2, 185-pound prospect is the No. 32 overall safety in the nation. He earned 24-5A All-District Second Team Defense honors this past season.

Beck chose the Red Raiders over offers from Baylor, Colorado, Iowa State, Boise State, Houston, Kansas, Louisiana Tech, SMU, Texas State, UTSA, and North Texas.
