Amarillo product all-in on Tech

Amarillo (Texas) defensive tackle and Texas Tech commit Ivory Jackson is one of the members of a substantial defensive line class with 8 commits slotted to sign with the Red Raiders in just a few weeks. Although he has yet to put pen to paper, the Panhandle prospect is locked in with his decision to head south and don the scarlet and black.

WHAT'S NEXT?

In addition to Tech, Jackson holds offers from Michigan, Kansas State, Texas State, Kansas, SMU, North Texas and Kansas. The six-foot-four, 270-pounder says he is “100 percent” in on Texas Tech and doesn’t have any visits scheduled to anywhere but Lubbock between now and National Signing Day on Wednesday, February 3rd

Jackson hopes to sign at Ridgecrest Elementary – a school he attended and is currently working at as an intern throughout the week.

“It’s kind of good to just come back and give back to them like that,” Jackson said. “It’s pretty cool because they’re the Ridgecrest Raiders so now I’m back to being a Raider.”

The senior is anticipating his visit to Tech planned for the weekend of the 22nd along with the many other defensive commits.

IN HIS WORDS

“I’m coming down with the defense and we’re all doing our visit at the same time, I think it’s on the 22nd or that weekend,” Jackson said. “I’m excited, I can’t wait. It’s really cool hanging out with the defense. We’ve kind of already got our roommates and stuff like that, just kind of planned it before we got down there.”

OUR REACTION

Jackson has been solid with the Red Raiders from day one, so hearing that he continues to be so should be very encouraging as we hit the homestretch for the 2016 recruiting cycle. He's all set for his visit in a few weeks with the other commits, and it seems to be just a matter of waiting for NSD with the DT. -Will McKay
